Quality of stay from a single source
The restructuring of the public areas of the municipality of Hövelhof, which had previously been strongly car-oriented, was aimed at improving the safety of pedestrians and cyclists as well as enhancing the attractiveness of the village. With the help of urban development funds, the castle garden and the Hövelmarkt were transformed into a pedestrian-friendly place to stay with a fountain, chimes and seating.
The seats and benches were chosen from Thieme's Cubo range. The hot-dip galvanised steel frame coated in DB703 supports seats and backrests made of varnished oak. The natural materials integrate perfectly into the surroundings. In addition, the purist aesthetics created by the lines ensure a stylish and modern ambience.
In order to structure the traffic routes on Hövelmarkt, steel bollards with slightly offset heads and tapered tips have been systematically distributed around the square. The bollards are made of high-quality steel and, thanks to their predetermined breaking point, can be quickly repaired if necessary.
Inviting lounge areas
The landscape architects Wewer from Frankfurt restored the historic palace garden with its visual axis to the former prince-bishop's hunting lodge and stylistically re-designed it with a band of different plants. In the process, recreational areas were created that invite visitors to linger on the benches and stools by Thieme, which are identical in construction to the Hövelmarkt, with a good view of the castle and to enjoy the view of the expansive meadows and the old trees.
To ensure that the bicycle can be parked safely during the recreational break, bicycle parking racks are available in the castle garden and at the Hövelmarkt. Depending on the space available, the bicycle stands are either fixed or mobile, so that the necessary free space can be easily created for events such as the Hövelhof St. Nicholas Market against the historical backdrop of the hunting lodge.
For flowers, shrubs or smaller trees, the Thieme planters offer a pleasant home and the opportunity to bring a piece of the castle garden to Hövelmarkt in an appealingly simple design without structural changes. As a zoning element, the sturdy planters not only impress with their durability and weather resistance, but also with their classically neutral aesthetics.
