Street furniture in the Oxford Quarter in Münster

Historical background and development of the Oxford Quarter

The “Oxford Quarter” is being developed on the site of the former anti-aircraft artillery barracks in Münster as a sustainable residential and community space. In 1945, the British Army took over the barracks and subsequently expanded them until 2013 to create the ‘Oxford Barracks’ – a town within a town, with its own nurseries, playgrounds, a school and various pubs. Even before the British withdrew in 2013, a conversion agreement had been signed in 2012 between the City of Münster and the Federal Agency for Real Estate Management.
